Episode 291: On Conspiracy

Play Now!

Conspiracy theorists are bad enough; they speculate when they simply don't know for sure. Worse, though, are those who would paint all such theorists as crackpots even when their theories have yet to be substantiated. I cover an election conspiracy in this Episode 291: On Conspiracy.

In this episode, I read from: my computer's quickie dictionary; and two articles concerning the 2024 election with some (so far) unsubstantiated claims.

I quote and/or mention: a cut scene from the movie Unprecedented (which I had trouble finding online); and an Adam Savage video.

I play: Snippets from the 2006 documentary Hacking Democracy; and an On The Media hit-piece titled "Using Conspiracy Theory to Make Sense of a Loss." Musically, I play some stingers from a December 8, 1953 radio episode of the series Dragnet, one titled "The Big Pick." I open the show with KMFDM backing Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens reading his dissent of a ruling striking down unlimited corporate campaign electioneering. Julie & Rolf & The Campfire Gang sing us out with "Over the Rainbow."
