Episode 159: Now You Find Me….

Play Now!

It sometimes takes an event well beyond my ability to "fix" before an idea worth indulging motivates me to create an episode. Imperious corporate impediments to increasing my show’s listenership prompt this Episode 159: Now You Find Me….

In this episode, I read from: podcaster frustrations and some most dismissive advice from a FruitiToons help page; from my podcast host company's own monetization advice; and from my computer's quickie dictionary. I've got a lot more stuff to read on this topic of podcast hosting, trust me; but it will have to wait for another two weeks and the next episode!

I played: Podington Bear's "Trickledown"; and Viciera doing "Me Burning". KMFDM backs Representative David Ciccilline opening a congressional investigation I'll tell you about in the next episode; and Julie and Rolf lead the campfire gang, closing us out with "Over the Rainbow".

  1. I can't believe you were making this for 5 people. I found your podcast from your first appearance on the c-realm. I felt like you were in the 20s then. I tried to go back and find when that was, but the internet being the internet I couldn't find when. You being you, you probably have the note stored on some air gapped computer./s. I feel special that you were creating like 4 minutes a week for me. Keep it up.

    1. To be fair, Future Farm, I was making it for me. Like I explained in a few episodes, I needed to vent and give The Wife™'s ears a rest. Making the episodes helped me to mentally construct a vocabulary for what irked me (that's still happening, happily).

No air-gapped machine necessary, for stats, at least. You probably joined around November of 2015. I get some basic listener stats; I just re-wound the calendar to the huge spike in average daily numbers (on November 6).

(And yes, I do use an air-gapped machine for production. One-and-a-half, actually; one to make the show, and another I only crank on when I need to clear my email cache, since the stupid client I use now won't do that automatically. A part of me just refuses to let beautiful, old machines with perfectly functioning——and paid-for——software go to pasture. A big part. Now that you can easily get quarter-terabyte thumb drives, transferring data is a breeze.)

And I will happily keep it up as long as I am able!
